Finding Meaning in March

March marks a seasonal turning point. As winter begins to soften into spring, we’re reminded of the resilience it takes to grow again after long, cold months. It's a time of renewal, strength, and reflection—especially as we celebrate Women’s History Month and recognize the power of women throughout history, and in our very own communities.

Honoring Women This Month

March is not just the third month of the year—it’s also the Love and Strength Month. A month where we reflect on the legacies of powerful women before us and the many women around us who continue to carry families, movements, and communities forward.

From nurses and mothers to advocates and entrepreneurs—every woman has a story. A strength. A struggle. A triumph.

But it’s also important to acknowledge those whose stories go unheard. That’s where our focus shifts this month—to the women in Atlanta experiencing homelessness.

A Hidden Crisis: Women & Homelessness in Atlanta

Did you know?

📌 Over 3,200 people experience homelessness in Atlanta, and more than 38% are women.

📌 Many women in shelters are survivors of domestic violence, struggling to find stability after escaping unsafe environments.

📌 Single mothers represent a growing portion of the homeless population, often with children in tow and no safety net.

📌 With the rising cost of housing, many women are just one unexpected expense away from losing their homes.

Let's use this month to not only celebrate women's accomplishments but also to support those who are facing challenges, ensuring that every woman has the opportunity to thrive.

Why This Matters During Women’s Month

As we celebrate women's achievements, we must also acknowledge the barriers many face daily—especially when it comes to safe housing, healthcare, and support.

We invite you to not only celebrate this month, but also advocate.

Ways You Can Help This March

🌸 Volunteer or donate to local shelters like My Sister’s House or Atlanta Mission

🌸 Support women-owned businesses in your community

🌸 Educate yourself and others about housing inequality

🌸 Check in on single mothers or women in your circle—sometimes, support starts right next door

March Reflections

This month, I encourage you to look beyond your own schedule and step into someone else’s shoes. Ask yourself—how can I use what I have to uplift someone else? Whether it’s a warm smile, a donation, or a shared meal—it all counts.

Let March be the month where compassion meets action.

“Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.”
