Properties with Purpose.

I thoroughly enjoy the summer months due to the pleasant warmth of the sun, extended daylight hours, and the chance to partake in outdoor activities. Nonetheless, for those without shelter, this season can present formidable challenges and potential dangers to their well-being.

During hot weather, homeless individuals face additional challenges due to the heat and the lack of access to basic resources. Here is a list of things that can help them cope and stay safe during hot weather:

Find shade: Seek shaded areas, such as parks with trees or public buildings with air conditioning, to escape direct sunlight and reduce heat exposure.

Stay hydrated: Carry a reusable water bottle and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Public water fountains or water stations might be available in some areas.

Wear appropriate clothing: Opt for lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-coloured clothing to stay cooler. Hats with wide brims can provide additional sun protection.

Access cooling centers: Check for local cooling centers or shelters that open during extreme heat conditions. These facilities often provide a safe place with air conditioning and water.

So with this in mind whilst on your travels it would be helpful to offer light clothing, water, hats, and sunglasses in this season.

Help Inn Folk launched their inaugural Senior Citizen house in Stone Mountain, GA, and commemorated the occasion with an open house event that included various agencies and referral partners. The attendees were impressed by the inviting atmosphere and cozy environment of the home. We are thrilled about providing housing for this population, and at present, we have two residents living with us, with four additional spaces ready for occupancy. We are confident that these spaces will be filled in no time as we continue to serve and support our senior community.

How homeless people survive during heat waves in Georgia | Chattanooga Times Free Press Temperatures in Central Georgia reached close to 100 degrees last week, but the "feels like" temperature was hotter. On July 20, the National Weather Service issued heat advisories for central, southwest and southeast parts of the state.

Help Inn Folk has recently established a contract with 'Watchman' Safety Advocate Officers, who now provide security services. We are delighted to have them as part of our team, as safety holds utmost importance to us. This additional layer of protection ensures the well-being of both our staff and residents.

"Homelessness is a crisis that should touch the hearts of all, for it reminds us of our shared humanity."
