Giving Thanks
As we immerse ourselves in the golden hues of November, we find ourselves reflecting on the spirit of gratitude. Thanksgiving, a holiday that we don't celebrate in United Kingdom. For my fellow non participants this is a federal holiday that's celebrated mostly in United States and Canada, on the fourth Thursday of November. I personally do not celebrate the holiday, but I am in favour of a heartfelt celebration of togetherness. Families and friends gather around tables reminiscing, sharing laughter, stories, and, of course, a bountiful array of delicious dishes. In the warmth of these moments, it's a time to reflect on the blessings that enrich our lives and appreciate the kinship that ties us together. Whether near or far, Thanksgiving transcends distance, inviting us to connect and embrace the joy of being surrounded by the people who make our lives extraordinary. It's a time to create lasting memories, express gratitude, and revel in the simple yet profound beauty of shared moments with loved ones.
We are happy to announce that Help Inn Folk is a member of the Forbes BLK community.

I'd like to extend my gratitude to Bank of America for nominating Help Inn Folk to participate in the Women's Entrepreneurship eCornell Course at Cornell University. I successfully completed the course in June 2023.

Men's Mental Health-Healing

This month we highlight the importance of mental health awareness. This month has been dedicated to shining a light on Men's Mental Health, recognizing the unique challenges faced by men and fostering an environment where open conversations about mental well-being are not just encouraged but celebrated. This image is very profound, despite a mature body, there's a lingering brokenness within. Often, it's the inner "child " that needs healing, if one does not seek professional help this can cause struggles in adulthood. Recognizing the need for change and choosing to mend the fractured aspects of oneself for some, can indeed be daunting. It often requires introspection, courage, and a commitment to facing and overcoming difficulties. People often inquire about the distinctions among mental health professionals, especially for those considering professional assistance. Here's a breakdown of the differences between a counselor, therapist, mental health professional, and psychologist:
Counsellor - Addresses specific problems emotional challenges or behavioural struggles in a practical way. Eg provides various therapeutic practices to help with pending panic attacks. Therapist-Work similarly however, they go deeper eg they work to find root cause of these issues. Psychologist-Uses talk therapy to help you treat mental health symptoms and can diagnose and prescribe medication to treat mental health disorders. Mental Health Professional Social workers counsellor, psychiatrist psychologist, psychiatric nurse, occupational therapist, peer specialist. Check with your job/ insurance to see if you're benefits include mental health services. There are organisations that offer sliding scale mental health services, check in your county also for men's support groups which can be found on https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/groups/ga/atlanta?category=mens-issues check to see the closest services to your location.
